Just before Christmas I submitted a planning application to Cheshire East Borough Council for the redevelopment of a site in Styal close to Manchester Airport and Quarry Bank Mill for a small contemporary hotel. The site is an interesting one which I have been involved in since 2008. Although in the Green Belt, Styal Conservation Area and Area of Special County Value its lawful use is a mixed one comprising both residential and the parking of cars in association with the airport. The proposed scheme would represent a substantial visual enhancement to the site and surrounding area from that existing and is an exciting opportunity for a new hotel on a site with a unique location and would also have significant benefits to the local community. In preparing the application I have worked very closely with local architect Annabelle Tugby and landscape architects DEP in order to achieve the most appropriate scheme.
