In April 2016 I have achieved a noteworthy victory on appeal against Leeds City Council in connection with an important gateway site on a main arterial route into Leeds on behalf of Eurogarages Ltd.
It involved the proposed redevelopment of a petrol filling station site and the key issue was the design of the scheme. The inspector agreed with the case I advanced that the scheme was a "suitable design solution".
It was also supported by an illustrative landscape scheme by landscape architects DEP which addressed all the points of concern originally raised by the council.
The importance of this appeal is the fact that I was able to successfully get through the planning system my client's design which was reflective of their "brand" despite enormous pressure from Leeds City Council ( including also an unsuccessful costs application) to devise a one off scheme which would not have been fit for purpose.
