Belmont Hall Estates

My role: Planning consultant and agent.

The scheme: My client was making an application for change of use and alterations to a former pump house within the setting of the Grade 1 listed Belmont Hall in Cheshire.

Grade 1 listed buildings are quite rare, so the scheme would undergo considerable scrutiny by the planning authority and the proposal to change the use to holiday accommodation would be open to subjective judgement. I was able to use my expertise to advise the client on the planning process and what was likely to be acceptable. My strategy was to present a proposal for changes that would be entirely complementary to the wonderful setting of the house.

The outcome: Planning and listed building consent was granted.
