My role: Planning consultant and agent.
The scheme: This was a proposed digital outdoor display for a city centre site adjoining a highway in Newcastle upon Tyne. The first of its type in the city and featuring a very large screen, the scheme met considerable on-going resistance from the local authority.
Based on my experience I was able to reassure my client that the application could indeed succeed if we persevered. The onus was then on me, working alongside a highways consultant and a barrister, to provide sufficiently strong planning and highway arguments and present the case in a way that gave the appeal inspector comfort.
The outcome: The case went to appeal, where advertisement consent was granted.
